Carnevale di Schignano

“Fare carnevale”, questo è il verbo che si usa a Schignano per indicare l’azione che si compie durante la grande opera carnevalesca. Uno spirito malandrino che nasce nel cuore delle persone e che si insinua sotto le maschere di legno, per le strade gelate, tra camini accesi, per i bar fumosi e su fino in cima al Sasso Gordona… Un bicchiere di vino, una maschera scolpita, un butash o quattro stracci e la pantomima inizia…

Carnival of Schignano

“To make carnival”, this is the expression that the people from Schignano use to define what they do during the Carnival. The carnival is rascal spirit that comes out from the depth of folk. This spirit sneaks under the wood masks, it runs in the frozen streets, it blows between the little chimneys, it enters inside the smoky pubs and up… up to the peak of Sasso Gordona. A glass of red wine, a caved mask, a butash or some rags and that’s it… this the begin of every dumb shows.
